Im working on a new cartoon, this one is going out to the Church sluts. Yup for those who arent Catholic, there are some sluts that go to Church to try to get a Sugar Daddy. I have mapped out the traits so you know how to spot this slut. This one is going to be more controversial but I think its going to be funny as hell.

1. Funky colored glasses that say D&G or Luis Vuitton

2. Tramp stamp

3. Cheeks hanging out

4. A tattoo that contradicts the type of person they are, like Angel or Queen

5. Roots are showing

6. Another tattoo with their kids name or just flat out saying that they are a mom

7. Crazy eye paint

This is real fun to do! Every time I think back on how to design these backgrounds I always go back to my childhood. My fam had that red couch with weird fake crush velvet. I remember running my hands through that pattern, ha ha and even remember putting a bugger at the bottom of the couch... come on guys tell me it wasn't just me!

Here is the living-room! Go into any Latin household I bet you will find this set up. I like showing everyone how a drawing looks before the color is put in. Its so plane and simple, but it reads well.

Hello ladies and gentleman, damas y caballeros! I would like to introduce to you Piñata y Chícles short. It's a coming of age cartoon that is set in the hood. This cartoon chronicles the experience of a latino kid growing up in the hood, this is not to say that this is only for latinos, this is for everyone. My goal is to show my experience and hopefully this will bring a smile to our face.

Here is the first stab at animating my characters. Its rough and this has been a one man show (so far). I always thought animation was a difficult hustle but never had an idea all the hard work it takes to animate, especially fluidly (something this animation lacks). This is the beginning of something special...

Through this all I found out that I am not an actor, my voice and acting is up to par with Jean Claude Van Dam... meaning no good. Hey any of you guys think you have the chops to act hola at me! The people I have in mind are my beautiful girlfriend Steph, Dave (my bro), and Alex (what up foo!). And before anyone says anything yes I intentionally left the mouths out, I have to lip sync the mouths to the voices.

This took about a month to do, sleeping about 4 to 5 hours a day.

My influences are all reflected in this cartoon, to name a few. Bruce Lee "Fist of Furry", Gorillaz animation, Hip-Hop not Rap (yes there is a B.IG. difference), Sergio Leon (Spaghetti Westerns), One of my characters has a green shirt its a shot out to Jim Henson's Kermit, plenty more that I don't even know about I'm sure.

The number one rule as a kid is that you can always play after the chores are done. My mom would yank me out of a street game of tag football just for me to take out the trash.

If you think our hero (played by Chicles) looks familiar to El Chapulín Colorado you guessed right.

Why do we as adults separate our heroes from childhood heroes? I recently revisited my favorite childhood cartoons and I am amazed that I used to get nostalgic when I would think of certain cartoons. Like the fact that the Smurf's only had one girl in that sausage-fest filled town, or that Pepe Le Pew was a freaking stalker/rapist, or that Juan Camaney movies where almost soft porn, but some still remain funny and admirable in my adulthood. And that is El Chapulín Colorado! It's still funny, ya the props in the show are cheesy, the production value is crap but well written and great delivery.

Big ups to some of my favorite characters that still shine bright: Yoda, Kermit, Clint Eastwood, Atreyu from the Neverending Story, La India Maria, Cantinflas, Surpentor from the o.g. G.I.Joe cartoon, Batman, John Elway, Bruce Lee, Dino-bots from transformers, A Tribe Called Quest... wow Im having allot of fun writing this list.

I started writing this entry as a diss, but it slowly became props!
Thank Bela Lugosi for creating the Dracula archetype. All the popular characteristic's came from his performance. He was the reason why I dressed as Dracula about 5 times when I was a kid. I hated you then, nothing but love now.

People ask me all the time who is Piñata and who is Chícles? Why those names?

Other than the fact that the most awesome part of life (as a kid) was being invited to other kids birthday parties, and there where always pinata's and chicles present .

Philosophy:

Piñata- We all have barriers to beat, things that get in our way. Beat that thing till you get the results you want. Get that candy!

Chícles-This represents the bittersweet in life. We get this cheap tasty delicious gum that last about 10 chews! Enjoy the chews that life gives you! Savor it!

Characters:

Piñata- Doesn't take nothing from no one. Reacts before he thinks. He keeps people honest, like it or not.

Chícles- Always gets stuck into the mix. He is the good friend that tries to have your back no matter how silly it sounds.

Welcome everyone to Piñata y Chícles. This is the beginning of infinity for this project. This has been an idea playing in my mind over 5 years so there is a lot of pent up ideas just gushing out of every pore!

The Reason?

Its simple. We all forget to enjoy life. There is so much out there to make us laugh and smile, and sometimes we get caught in the fishnet of everyday life that we forget to see what is really important. Life isn't that bad. If we choose to focus on the bad we will be blinded from the seeing the good that has happened and that will happen.
